High Country Transportation, Inc. (HCT) was founded in 1985 with the entrepreneurial spirit of finding success in the trucking industry. From our one truck beginning to our current size of over 100 trucks, there is always a focus on making the business better for our customers, drivers and associates.
In the beginning our business was entirely focused on hauling grain from a small town in Southwest Colorado to the markets in Northern Utah. Today our company consists of three division operating in various parts of the country. The over-the-road hopperbottom division focuses on serving shippers in the Midwest, Texas and Western 11 states. The dedicated dry bulk division operates in Colorado and New Mexico and actively seeks new opportunities in the West, Midwest and Texas. The Freedom over-the-road dry van division focuses on helping contractors who also have the entrepreneurial drive to create their own trucfking business. The Freedom contractors run in whichever lanes they choose in the 48 states and build their own book of customers.
Today our most important focus is on providing a great experience for our hopperbottom and dedicated dry bulk customers, a more personalized experience for our company drivers/contractors and a sharp focus on making our Freedom division a great place for trucking entrepreneurs to get their company started and stay successful within our organization.
All our plans for the future have a solid foundation in safety. We have been electronic log compliant since 2011 and a large percentage of our fleet is equipped with DriveCam units. In 2015 and 2016 High Country Transportation, Inc. was awarded second place in the Truckload Carriers Association’s Fleet Safety Contest for fleets running 15-24.99 million miles per year. Safety is not just something we say, it is something we do.
