High Country Transportation (HCT) was started with one truck in 1985 by brothers C. Dwayne "Buzz" Crowley and Don Crowley to transport grain from their elevator (High Country Elevator) in Dove Creek, CO to market in Ogden, UT. Over the next few years the trucking side grew and the grain elevator was sold. The trucking company moved to Cortez, CO which was the headquarters location of the business for nearly 25 years until the headquarters was moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth, TX area in the early 2010's.
Tough times forced HCT to downsize in 2017 and the business was eventually reduced down to one truck after the remaining downsized company was spun off into another company in 2019. In 2024 HCT has been rebooted with 20 trucks that can pull flatbed and dry van trailers. In order to facilitate quick growth with high customers service standards, HCT became an authorized independent agent for Packard Transport (a member of the Evans Group of Companies). HCT still takes care of their customers and drivers but we have the support of a large company to keep us competitive with any major truck line.
Buzz Crowley retired in 2006. Don Crowley serves as an advisor and still owns part of the company.
The second generation of leadership (CEO Shawn Crowley and President Kirk Crowley) have worked in the trucking business most of their careers. Throughout the years they have worked their way up through the business from washing trucks to driving to managing the entire company. HCT is ready to provide great service to customers and great jobs for drivers as we have done for the past 39 years.
